c.1924 Dent Hardware Co., Toonerville Trolley in Original Box
Superb cast iron toy based on the popular early 20th century comic strip. Beautifully finished in bright red with black and yellow bottom panels, and trimmed with yellow and bronze highlights. Off centered silver wheels give it erratic up and down movement. Comes complete with outstanding, complete original box. The box is correct for this cast iron version of the toy. The examples I've seen of this toy always show it as green with red bottom panels and orange and bronze highlights. I was told it was a scarce color variation with all original paint. Examination under blacklight confirmed it. The incredible condition of the box also supports the outstanding condition of the toy. Size: 4½" long and 5½" tall. Sold: May 2005
